The SJ255’s high strength web and long spans allow greater design flexibility for builders than ever before. The SJ255 set-down joist allows builders to easily provide a set-down and screed detail where they want to continue tiles across a floor into the wet area. Previous approaches to set-down wet areas using timber I-Joists were complicated and relatively expensive (lots of brackets, blocking etc). The SJ255 simplifies assembly and is more economical, so a superior bathroom finish can be achieved with easy assembly of the floor structure, and lower cost.
Convenience of service penetrations
Like all other SmartJoist products, the SJ255 includes a 40mm knock-out hole at 450mm centres along the web, for small diameter services or wiring. Larger service holes can easily be accommodated. Tilling Timber runs CNC machinery to provide pre-cut service penetrations in SmartJoist, free of charge.
Design Service
For the ultimate in convenience, the SmartFrame Design Centre can design floor systems from engineering and architectural drawings. This approach provides accuracy, efficiency and peace of mind for any builder. A clear, easy to read colour A3 layout is provided along with an installation guide, and the SmartJoist is supplied labelled and with pre-cut penetrations cut in the web of the SmartJoists where requested.
Best Performance
SmartJoists are engineered for heavy performance. We start with untrasonically graded LVL, bonded with exterior adhesive for more load carrying capacity. The webs are made from stable, strong Oriented Strand Board (OSB) for superior strength and consistent performance. All material is H2S treated for termite protection south of the Tropic of Capricorn. Full H2 treatment is also available.
